About Us

As a part of the Campbell River Adventure Tours Group, we offer educational, ethical wildlife tours. We a proud to be the first Carbon Neutral Tour Operator on the North Island, and put stewardship, conservation, and education at the forefront of everything we do.

For more than a decade Campbell River Grizzly Tours has had the great honour of working alongside the Homalco First Nation to showcase their territory and the Grizzly bears that call Bute Inlet home. As we have grown over the years, we have been fortunate to expand our operations and partner with Klahoose First Nation as well. With each tour we offer we aim to provide our guests with a remarkable experience, and a deeper understanding of the of the world they live in.

Stephen Gabrysh

Stephen Gabrysh is an experienced and passionate outdoorsman with a keen interest in Grizzly bear tours. After relocating from Alberta to Campbell River in 1992, Stephen developed a love for the water and has since become an avid fisherman. With a Bcom in Entrepreneurial Management from Royal Roads University, he has successfully grown his business from 30 to 75 employees. As a trained naturalist and Commercial Bear Viewing Association Level 1 bear viewing guide, Stephen is equipped with the necessary knowledge and expertise to lead Grizzly bear tours. He is also Transport Canada certified for small commercial vessel operations, holds a Multi Engine IFR Pilots License, and a Class 1 Commercial Drivers License. In addition to his extensive qualifications, Stephen currently serves as President of the North Island Marine Mammal Stewardship Association, is a member of the City of Campbell River Tourism Advisory Committee, and a member of the Discovery Islands Tourism and Forestry Working Group. His passion for the outdoors is shared with his family, as his two daughters aged 5 and 12 enjoy spending time on the water as well.

Tyler Bruce

Tyler Bruce is a seasoned waterman with a passion for adventure and outdoor recreation, specifically in the areas of Grizzly bear tours. Having grown up in the Gulf Islands and later exploring Nootka Sound, Discovery Passage, and the Johnstone Strait, Tyler has extensive knowledge of the local waterways. Since 2001, he has been involved in the commercial sportfishing and ski industry, serving as the Assistant Slope Supervisor at Mount Washington Alpine Ski Resort, where he managed a team of 20 employees in day-to-day operations. Additionally, Tyler is a commercial sports fisherman in Nootka Sound, Discovery Passage, and Johnstone Strait. He holds several qualifications from Transport Canada, including a Leadership and Safety Excellence certificate from ACSA, MED 3A- Marine Emergency Duties, Marine First Aid CPR/AED Level C, VHF Radio Operators License, and Small Vessel Operators Proficiency. With his extensive experience and qualifications, Tyler is well-equipped to lead exciting and safe Grizzly bear tours in British Columbia.
